About Me

I am an expressionist painter, raised in southern coastal Connecticut, currently living west of Boston. Painting has always been part of my life, having grown up in a family of artists, surrounded by art. My work is driven by my visceral response to nature. I am drawn to the sensuous quality of oil paint; its smell, buttery richness of hues, versatility in its viscosity and unexpected outcomes. The act of painting is about going to that subconscious place where the mind quiets and the body and paint become one. In that place discovery and newness happens. The painting is able to transcend the unintended, moving into a realm that the mind cannot conjure up. This is what continues to sustain and intrigue me as a painter.
